This font is in the "PUBLIC DOMAIN." and is similar to Adinekirnberg-Script in
appearance. It has both Upper & Lower case letters, numbers, and most common
used punctuation. It would look good when used on invations, and greetings--etc.
I do, however, want to make sure that its creator is given credit. The font was developed by: Stephen G. Moye (1991) and named "Civitype" as a PS Type1 font, and
purposely kept that name when generated as a TrueType font to maintain its history
and respect for the developer.
Sadly, Heaven only knows what other names it has by now, but as a "font connoisseur"
I've not seen the font from downloads taken off of several bulletin board services.
To others who use Fontographer for font conversion, the font info dialog box
has the creator's name and font name repasted into that area. Please keep the
font history intact. The font TT FOND I.D. #generated as: 1888.
Included with this TT file is a 24pt bitmap for those that use sys. 6.0.5--6.0.8 (only these system 6 versions can handle TT technology) and with *Apple's INIT needed to use TT fonts. Bitmaps are also used by those that use Type3 fonts for grayscale, or
do not have ATM (Adobe Type Manager) when using Type1 technology. (*The TrueType INIT is on most BBS or from your Apple dealer, and you must have Apple's font DA Mover 4.1--no earlier version will handle TrueType fonts. Additionally, and although bitmaps are not needed for screen use when using TT fonts in either sys. 6 or 7, I've found that using a bitmap font makes the screen font visually appear sharper when using system 6. Under system 7.0 or 7.1 I've not needed to use bitmaps for screen sharpness.)
Since "Civitype" is in the public domain I thought that other TrueType font buffs would like it--so here it is...
I know that there's little chance that this read me file will follow the font, but
if your a trueblue hacker--you'll keep others informed as to its true creator
and font name... Please preserve the font history by keeping this file with the font when distributed. This font is in the PUBLIC DOMAIN, but nontheless it should be given the same respect as copyrighted material, but from a historical and an ethical point
of view. This is not my font! Again, the font's developer, Stephen G. Moye released
it into the Public Domain in 1991 as a Type1 font.
By the way, 1991 is the year Apple and Microsoft introduced TrueType outline font technolgy, and it's the TrueType font's outline that is used for screen display.
